Today, three routes (or paths) criss-cross the Gironde department:

  • the voie de Tours (or voie de Paris) (in blue)
  • the voie de Vézelay (in red)
  • la voie du Littoral (or voie de Soulac) (in yellow)

In the Gironde département, there are 7 buildings among the 71 listed monuments on the Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago de Compostela:

  • Saint-Seurin Basilica
  • The imposing Cathedral of Saint-André
  • Saint-Michel basilica
  • Sauve-Majeure Abbey
  • Saint-Pierre church
  • The ancient cathedral of Bazas
  • Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-la-fin-des-Terres
The coastal route

A secondary route to Santiago de Compostela passes close to Arcachon. It runs from Soulac in Charente-Maritime to Irun in Spain, via Sanguinet in Landes.

The coastal path

The Camino de Santiago de Compostela arrives on the Bay of Arcachon via Lège and follows the Sentier du Littoral to Le Teich, past the Ornithological Reserve. It then turns towards Sanguinet.
