Wander around Arcachon’s markets

Discover the culinary delights for gourmets of “local products”.

Oh! What a pleasure it is to walk around the aisles of Arcachon’s markets, with wicker basket in hand, letting yourself be tempted by the colours, smells and tastes of the Gironde.

As well as a visual delight, the markets of Arcachon are places for sharing, where people like to visit or wander around, chat or talk, or search for delicious local products for a picnic or an aperitif in the evening.

Everyone loves to come here all year round to have a bite on site and discover the wealth of specialities South-West France has to offer. From seasonal fruits and vegetables to fish, seafood and shellfish, regional specialities which come from both the sunny climate and the Atlantic Ocean.

The markets of Arcachon present the perfect occasion to meet the producers who labour the earth to provide us with excellent products. Make the most of these must-see locations of local gastronomy during your stay as a couple or with family or friends.

The Cœur de Ville Market

The Arcachon market is held in Halle Baltard on Place des Marquises every morning. A broad range of fresh and local produce is on offer. Seasonal fruit and vegetables, freshly caught fish directly from the fish market, oysters from the Bay, poultry, pastries, delicatessen, local cheese and flowers are sold. Make time to stop off and have a coffee, stroll around, taste some oysters or have a meal here. Guaranteed to tittle your taste buds!

From 16 September to 14 June, Tuesday through Saturday, from 7.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. 

From 15 June to 15 September, 7 days a week from 7.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.

School holidays and bank holidays (October to April) 7 days a week from 7.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.

 

 

Organic and local produce market at Le Moulleau

Do you prefer organic foods? You can find a well-sourced selection of ethical, healthy and tasty products in Avenue Notre-Dame-des-Passes.

Producers, stall holders and local artisans showcase their know-how and sell their products, which are either organic or fair-trade. The visit is full of delicious smells and tastes: fruit and vegetables, local cheese, honey, local wine, essential oils and cosmetics. There are also non-food products with environmentally friendly and/or eco-responsible designs.

From the first Tuesday of July to the last Tuesday of August from 8.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.

 

Evening market Arcachon

In the summer season, visit Place des Marquises in the evening. The artisans present their craftsmanship and showcase their designs for visitors: jewellery, decorative objects, clothes, cosmetics, wooden toys and books.

From Tuesday to Friday, enjoy strolling and spending quality convivial moments with the family, and enjoy the evening’s cooler temperatures in Arcachon’s lively streets.

From 14 July to 15 August, from Tuesday to Friday from 7.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m.
